Review of The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009) by Jodie L — 18 Jul 2014
I find it hard to rate this film badly base on the subject matter alone. Simply because it was one of the most original ideas for a horror film I have ever heard of. On top of that, the film took multiple stabs at its own genre! The film began as any other generic horror film would: with two seemingly dense girls becoming lost in the woods in an area they are not familiar with.
From there on, the film becomes a very special one. One that isn't afraid to cross boundaries and sever previously established genre ties. The cinematography was also quite impressive, especially when it came to color usage an saturation.
Overall, the film was not as much of a gross out than a psychological thriller.
