Review of The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009) by Eric H — 13 Nov 2014
This film is very original in a disgusting, off putting way. When was the last time you saw a horror film that was unlike ANY horror film you had seen before? I can't remember. Tom Six clearly has a twisted mind.
The acting from Dieter Laser is insane, a truly believable villain. The acting from the two girls however is terrible, as is their scripting. Now I know what you're thinking, how would you have find decent actors for a film entitled "The Human Centipede"? Well if they found A-listers for Basic Instinct and A Serbian Film then with some hunting around they can find good actors for this.
Next, this film has an original concept that it does nothing with. Once the human centipede is formed the film literally goes nowhere and the pace becomes unbearably slow. A movie entitled "The Human Centipede" should never be boring, but at times, once the shock of the idea has worn off, it is.
What's most frustrating is with better production values, a better script, and decent acting this film could be a much needed welcome addition to the horror genre but unfortunately it is not.
