Review of The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) by Devin R — 26 Apr 2008
The Hudsucker Proxy was one of those movies where I could maybe understand some people not liking it, but I am not one of those people. I really enjoyed the film's cheerful and equally quirky tone and it reminded me of some old screwball comedies, like It Happened One Night and Mr.
Smith Goes to Washington. Directed by the Coen Brothers, The Hudsucker Proxy has plenty of dazzling visual style and silly humor, provided by the solid cast featuring Paul Newman, Jennifer Jason Leigh and the perfectly cast Tim Robbins as the do-gooder who is taken for a ride through the machine of big corporate America.
Fun and zany, the movie is a fun romp that's worth seeing at least once.
