Review of The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) by Buddy A — 28 Oct 2008
Don't get me wrong; I love the Coen brothers. However, this film just didn't do it for me. It lacked a lot of what the Coens are known for; missing are the usual snappy dialogue and witty humor (although these do exist here, it's in significantly shorter supply than their usual fare).
But what this film really lacked was heart, something at which Coen brothers comedies usually excel. This isn't necessarily a bad film, but it's sure not a very good one.
