Review of The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) by Magill F — 20 Apr 2009
Not my favorite of the Coen Bros. comedies. While there are several funny scenes and the film's tone is enjoyable quirky, I didnt laugh often enough. The intentional camp grated on me.
On reflection, I just dont think that Time Robbins carries the movie as required (esp compared to Jeff Bridges in Lebowski or George Clooney in O Brother). Also, I feel that the Coen Bros' comedies evolved and improved more than their dramas, which I personally found already excellent with Blood Simple.
