Review of The Howling (1981) by Gabriel C — 05 Oct 2008
Talk about a blast from the past.I had my wife watch this with me.(I'm 37 she's 23)I must say the effects have held up nicely for 28 years.Except for the werewolves banging and the stop motion effect near the end this movie is as original as ever.
A newswoman is contacted to meet a serial killer named Eddie who gets shot as he's showing her a suprise. She can't remember what happen,so at the advice of a new age doctor she goes on a retreat.
Once there she and her husband meet the strange inhabitants there and hear strange noises at night. While this is going on the "corpse" of Eddie is gone. What happens when the colony's connection to Eddie is explained.
What really makes this movie is the ensemble of character actors, good dialogue and ground breaking old school special effects,FUCK CGI!!
