Review of The Howling (1981) by Stephen C — 20 Mar 2008
The other great Werewolf Movie.
Released around the Same time as American Werewolf ,this film has a tongue in Cheek approcah to the genre ,mainly due to the fact that Joe Dante loves subverting Genres and paying Homage at the same time.
Who else would name all his parts in the film after pevious directors of Werewolf movies ,Terry Fisher,Fred Francis,George Waggner etc.
Who else would put Dick Miller ,Roger Corman and The scriptwriter John Sayles in funny cameo parts.
Only Dante can do this and still provide a scary story with Great special effects by Rob Bottin and get away with it.
Lots of Fun and eclipsed by other films ,this is still pretty good despite it age.
