Review of The Howling (1981) by Mark J — 09 Jul 2008
The 1st proper (&still the best) Werewolf movie.
Of all time turns genre cliches on their heads every 5mins, has one of the nastiest, creepiest introductions of any film, is wickedly acted from its first moment, showcases the best special effects of any movie before it that still beat the hell out any likewise wannabe todatoday & gets the only real decade of true horror underway. It's a sad to such a promising start, but this movie can't be blamed for the terrible shifting of bad taste into the ongoing I'm dead though I don't know it/cursed phoncall prophecising/actors in bad make-up tryn2eat each other/there's no real horror in this film as ur imagination does it 4 u crap that now makes up the entire hrror scene 2day. & don't even start me on those video game 'adaptions'.
