Review of The Howling (1981) by Jim M — 09 Sep 2011
Newsanchor Karen White assists the LAPD in catching brutal serial killer Eddie Quist...but things go bad, Eddie is shot dead and Karen suffers selective ammnesia. On the advice of pyschologist Dr. Waggner Karen and her husband Bill travel to "The Colony" a retreat in the wilderness run by the Dr. But things arn't what they seem and as Karen's colleagues Chris and Terry investigate Quists past the find links between him and The Colony and the creatures of folk-lore known as Werewolves...
That last bits not a spoiler really the movies been out for 30 years, spawned about 7 sequals and is called The Howling the hell you think its about lol. Acting is on par for an 80's B-Movie and director Joe Dante, no Speilberg but he knows how to make a competent film, keeps things moving nicely along. Some of the Werewolf effects are still impressive 30 years on and there's a dash of nudity to living things up. Was never scarred but I was entertained. Worth checking out if you get the chance.
