Review of The Housemaid (2010) by Kevin R — 04 May 2012
The film's narrative development depends a great deal on casting the housemaid as an innocent naif who is manipulated by her callous employers. Yet the director shows us that she is quite complicit in the extramarital affair in which she's caught up.
As such, it's difficult to feel sympathetic toward her (and her outrageous final act), for it simply doesn't make much narrative sense.
