Review of The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018) by Michael%20 S — 10 Oct 2018
I can't really talk on the book side of this movie as I have never read. I enjoyed this movie a lot, yes there are many flaws but for a cheesy kids movie, it was good. I really enjoyed Jack Black's and Cate Blanchett performance in it.
Jack Black like always plays himself which I like. Cate Blanchett is more straightforward with her lines yet still delivers them well and when they are on screen together it's funny. The downside of this movie is the kid's story(the chosen one story).
This is used a lot and has now gotten old and when he is at school it gets really boring as nothing new is being added to the story or his character. If I remember he only uses his power once in school and that's about it.
But when they're all on screen together its fun and feels like a modern day 90s book movie which might sound like an insult but it's really not in my opinion. If you have kids I suggest watching it.
