Good movie for family with tweens and young teens. If you grew up with the Goosebumps series, it is along those lines. The only down side on this movie is Jack Black who plays Uncle Johnathan. Jack Black, at times, plays the character to a T but this is shuffled amongst the prevailing number of scenes where he is Jack Black.
As mentioned before, this is engineered for the growing set but the story is good enough to entertain adults that open themselves to the experience. The special effects are pretty good in my opinion, and do not saturate the movie. The minor twist in the plot can be figured out before the end if you pay attention. The settings and background were put together well. While the start of the movie is a little slow due to character development, I still felt pulled in enough to see how it played out.
