Review of The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018) by Will L — 26 Sep 2018
Even though it hits some familiar children's movie beats, 'The House with a Clock in Its Walls' is also brimming with originality. Jack Black and Cate Blanchett are wonderful, as one would expect, and while he has room for improvement, newcomer Owen Vaccaro admirably makes a name for himself.
It's not without its fair share of humor, but it also goes into much darker and more frightening territory than most family films are willing to go. It's fun, scary, and an all around good time.
