This movie worked for me. It's charming and the performances of Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, and Owen Vaccoro were great. The emotions felt down to earth. But this isn't a flawless film, I felt like Tarby was written abit mean spirited and his transformation from nice to mean was predictable.
In the third act , we didn't need that serious story. It would've been a lot better if did what Goosebumps did, just kept it entertaining as a family film. All in all, it was an interesting and entertaining film that you could sit through.
