The movie is based in the Isabel Allende's book, named the same way, and the adaptation is very poor. The characters are modified without any justification and the end of the movie doesn't fits with the book one, this is a bad try to turn a great book into a movie, very crappy.
It's a shame because it has great actors like Jeremy Irons, Meryl Streep and Wynona Ryder.
