Review of The House of the Devil (2009) by Simon S — 19 Jul 2013
If this film had been made around the time it is set in, it would be a classic by now. As a matter of fact, I think it might have overshadowed a lot of its contemporaries. The acting is a little sketchy but director West makes up for this with a great score, and some ingenious scare tricks (the pulsing images of candles/moon/pentagram, the disorienting camera angles).
This is a solid film for any true fan of horror.
