Review of The House of the Devil (2009) by Ken S — 05 Jul 2012
This retro-style horror film made in the style of, and set in, the early 80s has a pretty decent ending, a few decent moments...but it spends most of it's time building up. I liked the atmosphere, but I felt like it took forever to get going, and I wasn't feeling the tension.
I did get the creeps a few times, which is nice, but I didn't feel tense about anything until there was only about 30 minutes left. I think once it hit that moment though, it was quite good. Tom Noonan is always wonderfully odd.
