Review of The House of the Devil (2009) by Daniel J — 19 Aug 2014
Super retro old-school vibes, with clear influences from early Polanski like Rosemary's Baby and Repulsion. Some really sick twists, meshed well with a great lead performance from Donahue. I quite enjoyed Ti West's commitment to homage.
It escalated quickly. Slow building of tension for 80% then a furious foot to the pedal in the last few moments.
