Review of The House of Mirth (2000) by Jennifer B — 05 Mar 2008
Gillian Anderson really great as the doomed Lily Bart in this rather decent adaptation of the Wharton novel. I find it very hard to watch Dan Aykroyd in a period piece, however. He's a good actor, but I just can't suspend my disbelief and imagine him living a century ago.
I keep expecting him to pull out a harmonica or a gun or a ghost-busting vacuum cleaner or something.
