Review of The House of Mirth (2000) by Film C — 17 Sep 2008
A great script and beautiful set design are dragged down by horrible casting. These actors aren't necessarily the obvious choices for a period piece like this (which isn't necessarily a bad thing).
Unfortunately, in this instance, the risk doesn't pay off. Most of the cast appear to have trouble inhabiting their roles, and only occasionaly rise above otherwise wooden performances. Quite a shame.
