Review of The House Next Door (2002) by Nicki M — 08 Feb 2010
Not quite as horrible as the rating would have you believe, but it's certainly nothing amazing. Seems to me like a typical made for tv thriller. (I have no idea if it was made for tv, but it sure seems that way).
Most of the acting is pretty standard, maybe even a little below standard in the opening scenes, but it does pick up a bit and I was impressed with A J Cook, who always seems to take on really crap movies, with the exception of The Virgin Suicides.
A shame as she is quite a likeable actress who I'm sure could do better. Theresa Russell is also not too painful as the downtrodden neighbour. I certainly wouldn't advise anyone to seek this out, but if there was nothing else on tv, you could do worse.
