Review of The House Bunny (2008) by Jordan A — 21 Jul 2012
The House Bunny is a boring, unfunny movie with boring characters and a predictable plot. Though the actors give it their all, the characters just seem generic and dull. None of the characters were funny, interesting or unique. The plot was just a jumble of dull scenes mashed together to make a predictable; boring movie. The comedy wasn't awful, but nothing was funny. There was also a bit of obvious backtracking in the film involving Tyson Ritter's character. (I don't remember his name.) When he first meets Emma Stone, he seems to think that she's weird and nerdy, but then he wants to be around her once she's in a bikini. He really seems to admire her body, but has no apparent recognition of her personality or anything else about her. He just seems to be a stereotypical, cocky college student. This is all fine until he talks to her again later, and seems to be nervous; saying that he's a loser and she's popular. What happened to the cocky, horny guy we saw earlier? What's up with the sudden change of character? I know that this isn't really important, but it did bother me.
Overall, The House Bunny is a dull, predictable, unfunny comedy that's not worth anyone's time.
