Phenomenally depressing, yet hypnotically paced and beautifully photographed. Very well acted by an all-star cast, though it is an utter travesty that Nicole Kidman got the Oscar nod over Meryl Streep in this case.
One of those good movies that you will most likely never want to see again because it takes being in a very special mood to reach for it. Sort of like "Boys Don't Cry" or "Schindler's List" in this respect, though not QUITE as intense as those films.
