Review of The Hours (2002) by Carlos P — 18 Nov 2009
Really good movie, but (like most of my complaints and de-merits) too long. The pacing was great, 'till it pushed the 90 minute mark. VERY interesting stories, decent non-disruptive soundtrack and beautiful photography.
.. taking suicide to 'hero' status. Slightly lesbian, which was... ok... but overall, they could've gotten rid of that, the VERY distracting drowning sequences and the fact that they tried SO HARD to tie all the stories together.
.. ok, suicide and helplessness was MORE THAN ENOUGH to keep those stories tied, no need for the book, the drowining and the flower analogies. But yeah, I liked it. Wouldn't watch it more than twice, but good movie.
