Review of The Hours (2002) by Chloe A — 24 Jul 2010
The Hours is based on a Homonymous novel by Michael Cunningham, the story happens in three different time periods, 1923,1951 and 2001, telling the true life of writer Virginia Woof(Nicole Kidman) and two fictional characters, Laura Brown (Julianne Moore) and Clarissa Vaughan (Meryl Streep), altough the three characters don't know each other, they share the same emotional problems.
The story is carefully written, with attention in the details, making what could easily be just a sensationalist movie, a intriguing, moving and emotionally deep work, making the viewer go inside the mind of those three women.
The performances are spectacular, just what we could expect about some of the most talented actresses of this generation.
While some people may find it too melodramatic, another group may find it lyrical, but certainly it's worth watching.
Final Rating: 8.0.
