Review of The Host (2015) by Kathleen C — 16 Nov 2013
I am not a twilight fan. However, I did truly enjoy this book. I refrained from watching the movie because I was concerned that it (like so many other movies) would ruin the story for me. This was not the case.
I found that, for the first time ever, my enjoyment of the movie exceeded my enjoyment of the book. And, as much as those who are so adamantly anti-twilght will deny it, it was a well written book. Stephanie Meyer IS a talented writer, she is just also a little creepy and likes to write down her sexual bloody vampire fantasies.
This plot was more stable and sort of Sci-Fi like, which I enjoyed. Overall, the movie gets 5 stars in my opinion. Many complain about the runtime, but truly, I believe it added to the movie. I certainly would recommend reading the book before seeing this movie though.
The runtime of the movie will make more sense. They did have to cut a LOT out of the movie to fit it into one film, but the scenes they chose to include were the ones that mattered.
