Review of The Host (2015) by Indira S — 24 Jul 2014
Having read the source material at the height of the Stephanie Meyer craze I wasn't expecting much from this movie. The book was poor without anything going on between the pages to fire your imagination.
It also read like a young teenage girls private diary about love & feelings but I guess life has taken it's toll on me & I've lost that innocence & remembering those feelings for the first time.
Having said all that the book has made a better transformation into a half decent movie. It's not the best movie around & coming from the source material where nothing happened it was going to be hard to drum up a watchable film.
Maybe I missed the point while I read the book but it came across better during the film. You're not going to get much going on when the alien race involved are a trusting, tranquil & peaceful race & possibly the moral of the book/film was it took an alien race to show us how inhuman we had become!
