Review of The Host (2013) by Kelsey M — 29 Jul 2013
My main complaint is that this film didn't take enough creative liberty when adapting the material to the big screen. Believe me when I say that isn't usually something I say when it comes to book-movie franchises.
Naturally things happened faster and some of the more complicated plot lines were cut for the sake of time. But nearly everything that happened was word-for-word how it occurred in the book. Sometimes I thought Melanie's voice-in-the-head was a bit over the top and strained.
However I still adore this story, I think it's incredibly compelling. The actors perform their parts well, and the three leads have plenty of chemistry. Leave it to Stephanie Meyer to transform the typical love triangle into a love square.
