One of the best monster movies ever made, The Host is Joon-ho Bong's masterpiece. Yes, the monster is terrifying and really cool, but what makes the movie so good is the human characters. The film is as much a family drama as it is a monster movie, and at times the monster takes a back seat to the family and their profound journey.
They grow, learn lessons, and are realistic. This makes the movie more terrifying, because you actually care for them and hope they'll make it out of danger alive.
