Review of The Host (2006) by Éminence G — 05 Apr 2014
One part monster movie and one part commentary on the Asian obsession with viruses and safety, the latter unfortunately seems to overtake the former throughout the film. It's superbly directed, although some of the humor falls flat at times (there's a scene involving mourning the death of a young girl that's played for laughs that is absolutely cringe-inducing).
The real star here is the monster, and it's probably one of the most memorable monsters in the history of cinema.
