This film suffers from 3 main problems. Firstly it's just too long, if it was 30 or 40 minutes shorter it might have had the wit and sharpness it lacks. Secondly the most interesting relationship , between Iris (Kate Winslet) and Arthur (Eli Wallach), is left half developed and feels like an afterthought.
Thirdly there is a huge lack of chemistry between the leads which coupled with the length of the film just leaves you feeling totally uninvolved and frankly a bit bored.
