Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Louise D — 23 Aug 2014
Less satisfying than part 1; no character development, just one thing after another. The CGI budget had clearly been prioritized towards the dragon and the golden hoard, leaving many other sequences, notably the barrel run, rough around the edges.
That said, Smaug and the gold are spectacular, and it's good to see some elven arse-kicking again.
