Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Shane S — 08 Sep 2014
I skipped out on the first installment of The Hobbit because it only had like a minute of Smaug at the end. Caught up fairly well. Everyone is forshadowing the coming of Sauron, I think. There are a few good moments concerning spiders and barrels but you have to slog through some dull, insipid drama between Elves and Dwarves.
The film rewards with a pretty intense final act confrontation between Smaug, Bilbo and the Dwarves though.
