Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Piijja P — 02 Jan 2015

Following along the same vein as the first instalment, this film is long, bloated and filled with meaningless fight sequences. The film makers have taken some artistic license, which adds at least 40 minutes to the film, and not for the better.

Rather than focusing on dialogue, plot or character development, it is riddled with overblown action. And in a brilliant brain wave of story telling, the film makers have swapped the antagonist from the first film, a large, ugly, pale Orc, with a new antagonist - a large, ugly, pale Orc.
