Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Patrick S — 20 Mar 2016
I went into this installment watching it on TV, and for some reason thought that there were only 2 installments of The Hobbit (oh that that had been true), so... you can imagine my surprise how after 3 hours the movie didn't end.
It was technically brilliant, but ponderously slow moving. Of course, all of these movies (including the the Lord of the Rings cycle) are just stories about running from one horrible thing to the next - the quintessential quest story, but after 9+ hours of Lord of the Rings and now 6 hours of Hobbit, I don't know as I can take any more.
For all the action, it left me feeling bleh.
