Got this for Christmas and I can say that I am extremely pleased with it. It goes a lot more off the book then regular edition. It was also nice to see Thrain in the movie only though he was only in it for a few scenes.
I can say for a fact that it was worth the extra money. When the battle of the 5 armies comes out I think I am also going to wait for that movie to go to the extended edition before I buy that one as well.
It may only be an extra 25 minutes worth of extra scenes but it's awesome to be able to view them.
