Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Movie B — 27 Sep 2014
Only superficially related to the book. Some action seems designed to set up future Disney rides. Most of the fight scenes are ridiculously frenetic with impossible feats, very cartoonish. It becomes tedious; I fast-forwarded through several of them, including most of the climax with the dragon.
The landscapes, CG and cinematography are still remarkable, the only reason I give it two stars.
