Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Jonathan B — 09 Nov 2014
The second instalment of the Hobbit trilogy finally brings us to the Lonely Mountain and the titular Smaug. Little improvement over the first one but this still has the same two flaws: made from a childrens book and extending pretty straghtforward simple story to three epic movies.
The visuals are as expected stunning with Shore's music nicely adding to the journey. The HFR 3D is the way to see this as it's definitely the best use of the 3D I've seen so far. Fans will love it but to casual viewer may find this a bit too long and "fantastical".
