Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Ryan B — 09 Jan 2015
A terrible movie that seems to go out of its way to betray not just details from the original story, but the very character of the plot and people in the story. Masterful dialogue from Tolkien at key points, such as Bilbo's dialogue with the dragon, are truncated or ignored altogether in favor of frankly stupid action set-pieces that do nothing to advance the plot or the characters.
I am so sorry I ever saw this.
