Review of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) by Jake A — 14 May 2017
Though it does suffer from the same issues present in the first film as well as the issues in the original trilogy this is still on the whole a well crafted, engrossing and epic film that has solid spectacle and a more fast paced plot unlike the first film.
The cast is also expanded upon, the plot gains momentum and it relies somewhat less on exposition. It also looks great, the score is majestic once again and the special effects though more about CGI than practical is nonetheless impressive.
