Over long and over done the final installment in The Hobbit trilogy proves that it's probably a good thing that this has all come to an end. Frankly the long action sequences, even if they are well made, were rather tiresome after a while.
I just didn't care enough about the characters and battle after battle did little to raise my involvement in the characters or the narrative.
