Review of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) by Erick F — 24 Dec 2015
Weird, awkward, clumsy 3 hour war scene. I remember the book killing Smaug so easily as well, and thinking it was dumb, and it definitely is dumb in the movie. You spend 2 movies building up this mother fucker of a villain, and then some dude just heart stops him with a metal spear in the first 10 minutes of the first movie.
I know this is what happens in the book, but it was stupid, and reminding me of how stupid it was annoyed me for the rest of the film. Also, the rest of the movie is just a big fight scene, and its OK.
If you like CGI, I think you may get a kick out of it. All intents and purposes, thanks for trying. meh concept, ok execution. Watch it if you are the type of person who can't leave a trilogy unwatched.
