Review of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) by Robert D — 04 Jan 2016
Hobbit Battle of the Five Armies was a disappointing last chapter to a beloved franchise. The beginning smog fight felt out of place and you didn't really care about it, because its been a year since the cliffhanger.
After that point the movie kind of drags on until the fight and you have to sit through Thron's gold madness phase. When you finally get to the fight, the army looked fake. You could easily tell it was CGI copy and pasted soldiers that just clashed together.
At times it was fun, like when you follow your heroes in the fight, but besides that this movie was so long and dull. The end of the battle had yet again the biggest ex machina; the eagles. I guess they have the eagles phone number for whenever they get into a hairy situation.
