Review of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) by Liam H — 01 Nov 2016
Would easily make my top 5 movies ever. The action sequences are breath taking. The white orc and his crew are scary, menacing and good military strategists.
Thorin's descent into madness is held for daringly long and is a portrayal of the themes of addiction which run through Tolkein's books. I was genuinely invested in the characters as were the characters genuinely invested in each other such is the scale of the epic journey.
Some of the tripped out scenes involving Thorin have a visceral impact on the viewer as do some of the emotional moments of fear and love in this film.
