Review of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) by Lariste K — 26 Nov 2016
This movie had me conflicted. I'm a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan, and I like the Hobbit movies a lot more than others. This one however, is definitely my least favorite. Albeit, the entire film is basically total warfare.
Theirs dragons, armies of orcs, trolls, monsters, elves and dwarves kicking ass, and honestly, it's pretty freaking fun. That being said, this movie had me a bit annoyed at times. For one, the overreliance on CGI had finally beaten me, it's very annoying.
Legolas defying the laws of physics, was far-fetched to beyond the Lone Ranger standards. I also really didn't like putting the death of Smaug in beginning of the third film, because now when people go to see it a year later, no one will care.
Finally, that assistant to the master of lake-town, that was a waste of a character. (For those of you who see the extended version, the way the character ends up is really stupid.) The romance between Kili and Tauriel is also stupid.
Overall, the movie is ok, but it surprisingly ends on a good note. I wasn't as big fan of it, as most people were.
