Review of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) by Martin R — 25 Jun 2015
There was something about this film that just undermined its own integrity. The one on one fight scenes were just too much in terms of spectacle and a suspension of disbelief (even for fantasy). The music is, of course, top notch and personally I preferred Thorin's own internal battle with his greed over any of the combat and battle scenes.
Too much sword upon sword and not enough plotting to be either distinguishable or hard hitting. Maybe next time Jackson.
