The Hobbit is a great movie.The story it told,the battles, even the way it showed thing that explain more of the lord of the rings. For a prequel(and the first book) it was pretty good. some parts did start to slow things down but with a story this big things have to be mentioned in the first movie.
If you have seen the lord of the rings or read any of the books,see this movie.If you haven't then you can still go see this movie.
