Review of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) by Christoph H — 03 Dec 2014
Peter Jackson didn't disappoint me with this first serious adaptation of The Hobbit. Overall it's a very good and entertaining movie, despite being a little more goofy and having a less darker tone than Lord Of The Rings.
It's a nice thing to see a lot of familiar characters in action again after more than 10 years and I can't wait for the sequel. The only thing I didn't like was Radagast. If they had to include him in the series they at least could've made him a decent wizard, but the way he is depicted is just ridiculous.
Otherwise I liked the idea to integrate story parts from Dol Guldur, the Necromancer, the small council at Rivendell and so on to build up the coming bridge between Hobbit and LOTR.
