Review of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) by Matthew F. J — 16 Dec 2014

This first installment in the new franchise will probably disappoint a few fans of the L.O.T.R. It feels like a total different type of films, aimed mostly to teenagers and kids. That being said the CGI, special effects and cinematography are unbelievable, epic, beautiful, colorful and almost biblical in their elaboration.

The story is ok and the acting isn't the best especially from the one expression faced dwarf kind who is quite insufferable in his constant deep voice and mean sideway look that is supposed to make him look mean but ends up making him look like a caricature with no depth.

wow I can't remember to watch such a wooden guy in a film in a long time. Apart from that it's entertaining, loud and fun....kids will love it and adults should easily enter the new universe and quickly dive into the action.

Bit disappointing but entertaining.
