Review of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012) by Jamie R — 29 Dec 2014
The Hobbit is a solid return to Middle Earth, the special effects are still as great as the original trilogy, if not better, and it has good bits of action, humour, and excitement, but it's got some pacing issues.
Somewhere in the middle of this fantasy, about the time they meet with the elves, it starts to get a little boring and not very exciting or interesting. I found that the meeting with Hugo Weaving's and Cate Blanchette's characters had nothing to do with the plot and was just for diehard LOTR fans' pleasure.
Besides that issue, The Hobbit is overall a pretty good start to the new adventures in Middle Earth.
